Hear Dr. Cosimo Spera, DecisionView's Head of Predictive Science, present a session called Predictive Analytics in Pharma: How to Improve the Drug Development Process. On average the drug development process spans over a ten years time period. It can be characterized into two phases: (a) pre-clinical and (b) clinical. The pre-clinical implies generally three to four years of knowledge and fact discovery to complete — no humans are involved — while the clinical phase, where humans are involved, follows three sub-phases. A phase four is possible after the drug has already been introduced to the market if more testing is required. The focus of this talk is on the "human" clinical phases from phase I to phase III. We will review the state of the art "predictive" models proposed to optimize the drug development process and discuss a few "real life" test cases.
